Privacy Policy — LAN Scout

Overview

LAN Scout ("the App") is a network scanning tool for Android that discovers devices on your local WiFi network. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.

LAN Scout does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All network scanning and analysis happens entirely on your device.

Information the App Accesses

To function, LAN Scout requires access to the following device capabilities:

WiFi & Network State — Used to determine your local network configuration (IP address, subnet) in order to scan for devices on the same network.
Location Permission — Required by Android (version 10 and above) to access WiFi network information. The App does not track, record, or transmit your physical location.
Internet Access — Used solely for communicating with devices on your local network (ping, NetBIOS, mDNS queries). No data is sent to the internet.

Data Collection

LAN Scout does not collect any of the following:

Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Location or GPS data
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics or telemetry
Network scan results

All scan results are stored temporarily in device memory and are discarded when the App is closed. No data is written to persistent storage or transmitted off-device.

Third-Party Services

LAN Scout does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The App contains no ads and makes no external network requests beyond your local network.

Data Security

Since no personal data is collected or stored, there is no risk of data breach from the App. All network communication is confined to your local area network.

Children's Privacy

LAN Scout does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The App is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
